I had several students in my Internet Safety classes. We talked about Cyber Bullying, see post below and how to stay safe while chatting, emailing, instant messaging, or other electronic communications. It is staggering the number of children and adults that give out personal information to complete strangers online. We talked about some of the ways you can stay safe and avoid being a victim of a crime or bullying online. Some of the comments my students wrote were that if you insist on meeting someone you only know online, take an adult with you. You will know perhaps more about their intentions if the person doesn’t show. Another group of students talked about the fact that you should never share personal information online. I know there are more ideas and tips about how to stay safe on the Internet. Please add your below. Hello,
My name is Carina and I am a student and SAS in Shanghai. I think that cyber bullying is terrible and it is almost as bad as physical type bullying. Many people go online without their parents knowing and are scared to tell their parents because they were not allowed to do that thing in the first place. I think that you should let an adult know immediately whether it may be a parent, a teacher or a councelor. Any trusted adult would be fine. I must say that being a witness of bullying and not doing anything is just as bad as bullying. I am strongly against bullying and I am trying to keep anyone who comes into my path from being bullied.
